Meet . . . Me
I graduated from Brigham Young University in 1980 with a degree in Accounting (magna cum laude) and from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1983 (cum laude). While in law school I was a Associate Editor of the BYU Law Review and earned the honor of Order of the Coif (top 10% of graduating class).
Following law school, I joined Johnson & Swanson (later Johnson and Gibbs), a large law firm in Dallas, Texas. There my focus was on federal and state income tax matters for companies and individuals, including representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service. I moved to Utah in 1991 and joined the firm of Kruse, Landa & Maycock (later Kruse Landa Maycock & Ricks) in 1992, where I worked for 25 years.
In September 2017 I began a solo law practice as the Law Firm of Richard C. Taggart. As a solo practitioner I have the opportunity to provide more personal care and greater focus on the individual needs of clients.
I am AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, an independent legal information agency, reflecting the highest professional excellence, expertise, and integrity.
